So, first a little explanation for people who haven't heard of Ultra Hardcore...
Ultra hardcore first came about as a comment from the Mindcrack server (a private minecraft vanilla server populated by about 20 youtubers) when they said how cool it would be if you couldn't regenerate health just by having a full food bar. Since they are youtubers, naturally someone heard about this and decided to make a mod for it, which was later turned into a bukkit plugin.
All credit goes to the Mindcrack server for the idea, and the plugin creator, ghowden, for the plugin.
Now, you CAN regenerate health, but only with either a golden apple or a health potion, which adds a LOT more of a challenge to the game, as one would expect.
When the match starts, players are scattered to random places in the world. Then you gather resources, try your hardest *not* to get killed by the environment. Sometimes... That gets hard... If you survive, though, you then go out on the surface and try to kill the other players. Last one standing wins. You can also do it in teams, which might end up happening if a lot of people want to play.
If we do this, it wouldn't be a funshop. UHC and sometimes last up to 3.5/4 hours (!) so it would have to be in one or (maybe) more rooms. There can be a time limit though, if that still sounds fun. I could limit it to 2 hours so it would fit into a funshop, but I personally think it sounds more fun to call everyone to the center of the map after 3.5 hours if it's still going that long, and have a massive fight to the death.
I should have my minecraft server running by next may... I sure hope so... But, If anyone has a server running version 1.6 or later and would like to provide a backup server in case mine doesn't work, that would be great, in case I haven't got internet decent enough for more than 5 players at once to be on by then... I should though.
If I host, we will probably end up having Biomes O' Plenty mod installed... But that just makes it all the more fun.
I've played a few times on CaseCraft (www.casecraft.org) and I can say it's a lot of fun.
Sound fun? If you have questions or suggestions, let me know!
